PARENTING PROGRAMS: EVALUATION RESULTS

New York State Programs

The Nurse Family Partnership Program (NFP) in Elmira, New York has published recent findings from their home visiting program. These results were presented by Professor John Eckenrode on June 8, 2004.

Out of State Programs

The following results are from large scale national evaluations, and serve only as examples of the conceptualization, design and implementation of evaluation plans for parenting programs.

Circle of Security is a parent education program in Washington state designed to facilitate caregiver's ability to create better relationships with their children through instruction provide at Head Start centers. Evaluation findings are reported in the Office of Child Abuse and Neglect's Emerging Practices Report on page 28 (.pdf file).

Early Childhood Education and Assistance Program (ECEAP). Results of an on-going 8 year longitudinal study on the program's effectiveness available at Rand Corporation's Promising Practices Network site: http://www.promisingpractices.net/program/

Family Connections . A community based program of the University of Maryland that promotes the safety and well-being of families through social supports, emergency assistance with at-risk families with children ages 5-11. Evaluation findings available at http://www.family.umaryland.edu
